MISSING IN VERNON: 70-Year-Old Colleen Ketcheson Disappears with Her Beloved Dog Gizmo

The town of Vernon, BC, is gripped with worry as Colleen Ketcheson, a 70-year-old woman with early-onset dementia, has been reported missing since October 8, 2025. Colleen was last seen walking her small dog, Gizmo, and hasnโ€™t been heard from since. Family, friends, and local authorities are pleading with the public for any information that may help locate her.

Colleen’s disappearance is particularly concerning due to her medical condition. Dementia, especially in its early stages, can lead to disorientation and confusionโ€”even in familiar places. The fact that she was out alone makes this case even more urgent. Police are urging the public to remain alert, especially in surrounding neighborhoods, parks, and wooded areas where she may have become lost or disoriented.

The RCMP and Vernon Search and Rescue teams have been mobilized, canvassing areas on foot and with drones, but so far, no significant leads have been found. Time is critical, especially with colder fall temperatures setting in. Gizmo, her loyal companion, is also unaccounted forโ€”a small white dog who may be trying to stay close to her.
