A Life of Love and Legacy: Remembering Twila Mae Shoaff
Salem, OH — On October 9, 2025, the world lost a gentle soul and a cherished heart as Twila Mae Shoaff passed away peacefully in her beloved hometown of Salem. Born on November 2, 1946, Twila was the embodiment of kindness, strength, and devotion — a woman who dedicated her entire life to her family and friends.
Twila’s story is one rooted deeply in love. She shared a beautiful marriage with her soulmate, Robert Leroy Shoaff, whom she wed on April 3, 1965. Their union, filled with laughter, resilience, and unwavering support, stood strong until Robert’s passing in 2006. Even after his departure, Twila carried his memory in every smile, every tradition, and every story shared around the family table.
Together, they raised two loving children — Scott (Kimberly) Shoaff of Salem and Diana (John) King of Akron — who carry forward her values and spirit. Her family tree blossomed with grandchildren Taylor Shoaff, James King, and Micheal King, and grew even more vibrant with three great-grandchildren: Oliver, Austin, and Isla, who brought Twila endless joy in her later years.
Cherished by All: A Woman of Simple Joys and Endless Giving
Twila’s warmth extended far beyond the bounds of family. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — attending auctions with friends, winning at bingo, and spending time with those she held close. Her laughter lit up rooms, her hugs provided comfort in the hardest times, and her words, often filled with wisdom and grace, left a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know her.
She was not just a grandmother — she was a best friend, a safe place, a guiding hand. Her sister, Wendy Phillips, remembers a bond unshaken by time, and her late siblings — eight sisters and four brothers — now welcome her with open arms in eternity. Even her beloved cat Molly, long passed, surely awaits her gentle touch.
Twila taught us all how to love fiercely and live fully. Her ability to connect, care, and celebrate life’s moments — big or small — was nothing short of inspiring. She was the heart of her family and a bright thread in the fabric of her community.
