Gone Too Soon: 6-Year-Old Armyah Mixon Killed in Phoenix Hit-and-Run
Phoenix, AZ โ A tragic hit-and-run crash on Sunday night has claimed the life of Armyah Mixon, a 6-year-old girl whose smile will now only live in memories. The fatal crash occurred just before 8 p.m. on October 5, on Interstate 10 near 67th Avenue, when a car carrying Armyah and her family was struck from behind by another vehicle.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the violent impact sent the familyโs vehicle off the road, where it slammed into a concrete median wall. Armyah, who was sitting in the back seat, was killed in the crash. Her 4-year-old sister, also in the car, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The driver who caused this pain, Turatsinze Gadi, fled the scene, leaving behind a destroyed family. He was later located and arrested at a nearby gas station. But for Armyah’s family, no arrest can undo what was taken.
A Family Broken, a Community Mourning
Armyah Mixon was just a childโfull of potential, love, and laughter. Her life, and all the years she should have had, were stolen in an instant. The crash did not just end her life; it shattered the hearts of her family, her community, and everyone who hears her story.
Her 4-year-old sister now fights to heal in a hospital room, unaware that her best friend in the world will never come home. What was supposed to be just another Sunday evening drive turned into a lifelong nightmare.
This loss isnโt just a headlineโitโs a cry for justice, for awareness, for change. A little girl is gone. A family is grieving. And a community is demanding answers.
